The first step in preparing for the PDP meeting is to review the employee’s Accountabilities, KPIs and Goals form to determine how the employee is progressing and whether amendments are required for the year ahead.
Note: You should complete your PDP meeting with your manager before doing any PDPs with your employees. You need to know what accountabilities your manager has for your area before you can set the accountabilities for your people.
If you don’t have close personal knowledge and regular contact with the employee concerned, invite a manager who does to help you prepare and sit in on the discussion. If you don’t know the employee well, you probably can’t lead the discussion without this help.
